Recognizing and Responding to Nudging in Public Meetings
In this training, you'll learn how to recognize, analyze, and respond to nudges used by trained facilitators, consultants, and planners during public meetings. These individuals aim to subtly steer your decision-making process toward their desired outcomes. What is Nudging? Nudging is a psychological technique used to influence people's behavior in subtle ways. It’s part of behavioral economics and involves altering the decision-making environment to prompt individuals toward a specific choice. The goal isn’t to force a decision but to guide it by making the desired option seem more attractive or easier. Nudging is not about offering economic incentives, bans, or regulations, but rather managing people's behavior to be more predictable or in line with the desired outcome. What You Will Learn: What is Nudging? - Understand the concept of nudging and how it influences decision-making. Nudging Schemes - Learn the common strategies used to nudge individuals, such as framing information in a certain way, using default options, and appealing to social proof. Who Are the Nudging Bullies? - Identify individuals or groups who use manipulative tactics to pressure others into decisions that benefit them, often in public meetings or political settings. By the end of this training, you'll be equipped with the tools to recognize and navigate nudging tactics effectively, ensuring your decisions remain informed, autonomous, and free from manipulation.
